Central Timaru Loses Key NZ Post Service

Many in our community will have seen the news that the central Timaru NZ Post branch is set to close.

We’re really disappointed to hear this. A local post shop is such a key service in central Timaru, especially for older people who rely on being able to get multiple errands done in one accessible location.

For some, having to travel elsewhere for postal services may not just be inconvenient, it could be impractical. This is particularly true for those with limited mobility, no access to transport, or who are less comfortable using online options.

It’s also unfortunate to see another loss in the central Timaru hub, with shops and services seeming to disappear from the CBD more and more often. These changes can have a real impact on how connected and supported people feel in their own community.
